When Paul defeats Jamis in combat, Stilgar ensures his acceptance into the tribe. However, tragedy strikes when Feyd-Rautha launches a devastating attack on Sietch Tabr, killing Shishakli and forcing Paul to journey south despite his fears of an apocalyptic holy war. In the south, Stilgar leads Fremen fundamentalists who strongly believe in the prophecy. After Paul drinks the Water of Life and falls into a coma, he emerges with prescience identifying a narrow path to victory. Stilgar supports Paul's declaration as Lisan al Gaib after he demonstrates knowledge of their deepest thoughts. During the offensive against the Imperial court, Stilgar leads Fremen forces onto captured Sardaukar ships using atomics and sandworms to overpower the elite troops.
